Legion 5 is great hardware wise but Lenovo has been known to have issues with their hinges. My Y50-70 had the hinge snap after a few weeks and they denied warranty. I had to buy accidental insurance for them to take it. Literally sat on my desk and lid gets closed after use and opened the next day. Not sure if they replaced the hinge, or gave me an entire new chassis and just swapped the HD. It says they replaced the hinge, LCD bevel and the back cover, but even the keyboard is missing the stickers that were on it, so I think it was entirely replaced, which makes more sense and was probably than just replacing the hinge.Options. When the hinge breaks loose from the back cover it is because the three screws that hold the hinge t5o the back cover have nothing to screw into. The female part breaks off of the back cover. (Even though the cover might be made of aluminium they cheap out with mounting it on a plastic frame). Adding the fact that the hinges are very stiff this stresses the plastic to the breaking point pulling the brass nut out.I have had a couple of quotes for the repair - both are around £120.00. The laptop has a fair spec on it. Shame that just the the hinge is broken. A new one with a similar spec is around £550 to £600. I have looked at some second hand ones on Ebay so I may get one of those and maybe sell the Lenovo one for parts only.No he swapped out the basically the whole top part including screen and screwed in the new hinges. They may have made the connected part stronger, as the new lid feels more polished than the original. On the original lid, the LEGION logo was a bit sharp and rough.
