There are a number of things to do here that won’t cost much at all. Second, there is the town of Mahahual, mentioned earlier. The town is small, but comes alive with the cruise ships. For shops, it's basically the same type of shops you'll see in any cruise port, with some exceptions of "local" items in various kiosks. Many "local" items aren't local. I think there are now 2 restaurants in the port complex, one's a Senor Frog's (very over priced from mediocre stuff).Bacalar Beach Club is found a couple of miles south of the main town of Bacalar and is the most popular spot on the lake.
